Designing Smiles

Veneer Course

For dentists to learn how to complete beautiful, minimally invasive smile makeovers, using porcelain veneers in a predictable way.

Dentists travel to London from across the world for this course. It runs twice a year, for ten delegates at a time, around one live patient.

Why Designing Smiles?

Small Group Teaching

This is a cosmetic dental course giving you the opportunity to learn from Dr Manrina Rhode, one of the leading Cosmetic Dentists in the UK. The qualification required to complete this course is a Dental degree.

Experience of over 15,710 Porcelain Veneers

Dr Manrina Rhode graduated as a dentist from Guys Hospital in 2002 and has worked in Private Cosmetic Dental Practice since. She has completed more Porcelain Veneers than most dentists in the world. Use her experience and predictable methods to create beautiful smiles for your patients.

Facially Driven Dental Design

Dr Manrina Rhode uses facially driven dental design to give patients the smiles they should have.

There is no 'one size fits all' approach. Every case is customised. Learn in detail how to do this for your patients.

Laboratory communication, taught by the laboratory

Alan Smyth, head of Precision Dental Studio, teaches the lab communication session on every course. He has been making crown, bridge and implant work since 1998. Learning to write a prescription from the person who receives it is a rare thing on a veneer course, and it is the difference between veneers that come back right and veneers that come back nearly right.

One month of Manrina's Mentorship included.

Every delegate receives a month inside Manrina's Mentorship, so the support continues after your three days in clinic: live calls with Manrina, case reviews, the resource library and a community of dentists on the same path.

Small group teaching. The course runs just twice a year and places are strictly limited.

The course fee rises to £3,000 on 1st October 2026. Book before then and you pay £2,600, whichever course dates you choose, including 2027.

Travelling to London for the course

Designing Smiles has been taught to dentists from Norway, Italy, Germany, Brazil, the United States, Dubai and Thailand, among others. If you are travelling in, here is everything you need to plan the trip.

The three days are not three days in a row. This is the single most important thing to know before you book flights. You are in clinic on the Monday and the Tuesday, and then again the following Monday. The February 2027 course, for example, runs on the 1st and 2nd of February, then the 8th.

There is a clinical reason for the split. The course is built around one live patient having a complete smile makeover, and all six appointments of that case happen in front of you across the three days. The Monday covers the consultation, records, photography, veneer preparation and temporaries. The laboratory then needs time to make the definitive veneers properly. The following Monday is the fit. Compressed into three consecutive days, it would stop being a real case.

So you are in London for a week, which is rather the point. Wednesday through to Sunday is yours. Most delegates flying in treat those days as a holiday. Some stay in London, others use the time to see more of Europe while they are this close to it: Paris is a train journey away, and Italy, Spain and Switzerland are a short flight. It is a good week to bring someone with you.

How the teaching works. Dr Rhode carries out all of the treatment on the patient herself. You watch every stage at close quarters in a small group, and your own hands-on veneer preparation is done on models alongside it. That is a deliberate choice. It means you see a real case run properly from first consultation to final fit, and it also means you do not need to be registered with the GDC to attend.

If you do need to fly home in between, the third day is a fixed date, so please book around it rather than hoping it can move.

Where it is held - DRMR Clinic, Floor 1, 251 Brompton Road, London SW3 2EP. The clinic is 15 miles from Heathrow, 30 from Gatwick and 35 from Stansted. The nearest underground stations are South Kensington, on the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines, and Knightsbridge, using the Harrods exit. Both are a five to ten minute walk.

Where to stay - There is a wide choice of hotels within walking distance. The Franklin London is almost next door and The Rembrandt is a few minutes away, with 100 Queen's Gate, The Hari and the Mandarin Oriental all within a mile. Accommodation is not included in the course fee.

CPD - The course carries 20 hours of verifiable CPD. If you are registered outside the UK, please check recognition with your own registration body before you travel.

What to bring - Your loupes if you work in them, and a camera you already know how to use. The photography we teach is far more useful learned on the equipment you will pick up again when you are home.

Visas - Requirements vary by country and change from time to time. Please check your position as soon as you have a date in mind rather than close to the course.

After you go home - Every delegate receives their first month of Manrina's Mentorship included with the course. It is fully online and the live calls are recorded, so it carries on wherever you are. That month matters most in the weeks straight after you fly back, when you are looking at your first case on your own.

I'm Janesca Casalli, Brazilian dentist and specialist in Cosmetic Dentistry . I've just finish a special mentoring with dr. Manrina Rodhe. It was an amazing day, where I could see all the Manrina's protocols and workflow and your great ability to do veneers and take care of her patients. She is charismatic, cheerful, smart and so chic and also has London's most luxurious dental clinic . Now I have so many ideas and principles to settle in my dental office. I highly recommend taking the course. Then you will understand why she is the best dentist of the year in 2022.

Dr Rhode's smile design course enables her not only to share her knowledge with you in a very small group setting but you will get to literally stand over her shoulder whilst she carries out an entire case in clinic from start to finish. This is so much more than the standard videos and lectures you often get.
