Overview

Our oral DNA Test is a simple new way of providing insights into both oral and general health. Changes in saliva can help detect early oral health problems, such as gum disease and tooth decay as well as other systemic diseases like Alzheimer’s Disease, diabetes, heart disease, infertility and many more. Many of the diseases are usually symptom-free in their early stages, so this DNA test is one of the few ways to be proactive about your treatment.

Why Test

Learn if you were born with gene markers associated with increased inflammation, a critical factor in the severity of periodontitis, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Help your provider select the most effective treatment if you already have periodontal disease, and then measure treatment results with a follow-up test.

Learn if you have HPV high-risk types associated with oral cancer. The Oral Cancer Foundation states that HPV is the leading cause of oropharyngeal cancers. In fact, 65% of oral cancers are linked to HPV.

Common pathogens directly cause gum disease and may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, and birth complications.

Saliva can tell you a lot about not only your oral health but also your general health. Through your saliva, we can check your collagen breakdown levels, whether you have good or bad bacteria in your mouth, how acidic your saliva is, or how much inflammation you have.

At DRMR we offer two types of DNA Saliva Tests:

Alert 2 test from £495

Alert 2 – This test consists of the detection of 11 oral pathogens - their types and concentration, and 6 gene markers that establish the inherited genetic risk. It measures the level of bacteria known to cause periodontal disease. Those bacteria are also known to be associated with diabetes, and increased risk of cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, dementia, and other systemic illnesses. A full report will be discussed with you and interpreted to create bespoke treatment and oral health care recommendations. If the test results indicate a predisposition to or a systemic condition, we will refer you to a specialist in one of our partner clinics.

MyPeriopath test from £350

MyPeriopath – A re-test that consists of the detection of the same 11 oral pathogens - their types and concentrations. We recommend this test to confirm the effectiveness and results of the bespoke tailored treatment and care recommendations after the initial DNA Alert 2 test.
